13th Annual Race Against Racism

Saturday, April 29, 2017 8:30 AM
Commonwealth Avenue and State Streets
Harrisburg, PA

Event Summary:
On Saturday, April 29, 2017 the YWCA Greater Harrisburg will hold its 13th Annual Race Against Racism. This 5k run/walk is a mission-driven event promoting awareness of racism in our community, and raises vital funds to support our racial justice programs throughout the year.
Event Details:

In prior years, over 700 people have participated in the 5k run/walk and the accompanying Humanity Festival, which features culturally diverse performers, food trucks and children’s activities. We hope that even more will join us this year!

The revenue from last year’s race allowed us to move our mission of eliminating racism forward by strengthening the racial justice programs in the community. This included expanding the “Let’s Talk: A Conversation about Race” series, delivering the monthly Diversity Forum program, convening law enforcement and community leaders to promote racial justice in policing, as well as providing training and responding to hate and bias in our community.

The Race Against Racism will begin at 8:30 AM and the Kid's Fun Run will be held at 9:30 AM.
