AMENITIES:The activity hall will be dry, heated, full kitchen, and has indoor restrooms. In addition, alcohol (byob), will be permitted. While ample parking will be available, please consider car-pooling. Each major aid station, approximately 4 miles apart (3.5/8.5/12.5/15.5), will be stocked w/ water, Hammer Nutrition® Heed sports drink, soda, Hammer Nutrition® Hammer gels, candy, cookies, pretzels, chips, & sandwiches.
COURSE:In comparison to other parks in the mid-Atlantic region, Fair Hill is fairly tame. The park has gentle rolling hills, intermingled with moderately steep climbs that will not exceed 150 feet. The one loop course will start/finish on about 1 mile of asphalt/gravel road, which makes it 2 miles total. In addition, there will be sections of grass pastures to run in that add up to approx. 1 mile. The other 12.5 miles is single track. As a result, you should expect to be "lost" all day long. If you ran PHUNT last year, approximately the last 11 miles of the 50K single loop course, will be the last 11 miles of the new 25K course. In addition, the first 1.25 miles of the new 25K course will be the same 1.25 miles of the old course.
WEATHER:It’s the wintertime in the mid-Atlantic; expect anything mother nature has to offer. In fact, last year, PHUNT started at a bone chilling 6 degrees before topping out at a blistering 30 degrees. Oh, and runners had to contend w/ 5 inches of fresh snow. Having said that, the average low is 24, & the average high is 42.
DOGS, STROLLERS & DINOSAURS: Sorry, but under USATF rules, no dogs, strollers, or dinosaurs are allowed on the course.
