Event Details:Light Up the Streets - 2013 5K Glo Run
Light Up the Streets is a night 1K/5K Glo Run to benefit the White County Children's Safety Center.
Who Am I Running For? The Safety Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit child advocacy center that exists to support and advocate for child victims of sexual and physical abuse. The center aids law enforcement in reducing the trauma placed on children during criminal investigations by offering child-friendly forensic interviews and sexual assault exams. Currently the center serves 25-30 different child victims a month.
What Makes This Race Unique? Light Up the Streets will be a unique fun-filled nightime race through the downtown neighborhoods of Searcy. Runners will be adorned with glow in the dark necklaces and bracelets while running through a glowing course. Not only will the course be well lit but the neighborhoods will be encouraged to turn on their porch lights in support of the runners and the child victims they are running for. Each runner will have the first name of a child victim on ther bib who they are running in honor of.
Is It Only A 5K? For those who want to participate in the fun, but aren't quite ready to run a 5K, there will also be a glowing 1K course. This course will be perfect for children, families and those who want to walk/run a mile in honor of the more than 200 children served at the Safety Center each year. Warm hot chocolate will be waiting for you at the finish line!
