Summary:
First Annual Grand River Kayak Race to benefit the "Friends of Ottawa County Parks". Race is aprox 3 miles in length and start and stop location in Stearn's Bayou, Grand Haven, MI.

1st Annual Grand River Kayak Race

to benefit "Friends of Ottawa County Parks"

FAST 3 MILE RACE

Date/Time:  Saturday, June 12th 2010, at 9:00am. (All kayaks must be in water on South side of Green St Bridge inside of Stearn's Bayou by  8:45am)

Location: Parking and kayak inspection at Felix's Marina 14023 Green St, Grand Haven  

 Length 3 miles

Cost/Categories: $25 per racer, single kayaks only (review rules for additional details/restrictions)

Packet Pickup: June 11th 6-8pm At Earths Edge T-shirt, whistle, race number, map of race

Post Race Events: Awards ceremony and food/water will be provided post race

Mandatory Kayak inspections: 7-8am @ Felix's Marina

Race # placement: race numbers to be posted on the forward deck bulkhead of the kayak                 Prizes: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place medallions for each age division.

Age divisions

 Age divisions: 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+

Rules/Regulations

1: must be 18 yrs of age

2: all kayaks must be under 17’ in length

3: signed liability release waiver, prior to race start

4: racing number must be visible on front bulk head of kayak

5: No early starts or assistance of any kind

6: must exhibit good sportsmanship

7: single kayaks only, no tandems or canoes

8: all kayaks to be inspected prior to start of race

9: All participates must wear a PFD and have an Auditory device (whistle) on there person through out race

10: no rescue or trained life support on hand, kayak and race at own risk

11: no alcoholic beverages permitted during event

12: no dogs allowed in kayak during race  

13:Timmer results are deciding factor for winners

14. Prior to race, no contestant will touch nor move any other contestants kayak or equipment without permission.

15: all times and scores are final unless written complaint is handed in within 2 hours of end of race.
